Internal Hemorrhoids Vs External Hemorrhoids

Hemorrhoids And The Simple Way To Treat Them

Most of the time internal and external hemorrhoids are not symptomatic. Research shows that about 50 percent of people will have symptomatic internal or external hemorrhoids at some point in their life.

Hemorrhoids sometimes get irritated through your diet. Consuming too much of a spicy food, for example, not enough fiber or dehydration. They can also get irritated by stress, which causes gastrointestinal problems and irregular bowel movements. Not getting enough exercise, doing exercises that put too much pressure on your backside or sitting too long can also be causes, along with obesity.

In short, there are many ways for hemorrhoids to become inflamed, and its important that you speak with your doctor if you notice that your hemorrhoids are becoming a regular problem for you. With your doctor and this guide, you should be able to prevent further development of symptomatic internal and/or external hemorrhoids.

Now that we have some background knowledge, we can learn how to poop with a hemorrhoid.

What Role Do Toilet Habits Play

Straining during a bowel movement can be painful and make hemorrhoid problems worse. But you can avoid straining by

  • preventing constipation, because hard stools automatically make you push harder
  • paying attention to your bodys signals, such as the urge to go to the toilet waiting too long before you go can lead to constipation
  • being relaxed and taking your time when you go to the toilet.

Here Are A Few Things You Can Do To Prevent It

Drink water, this may seem obvious but still, we dont really drink the amount of water we should. This will help the stool to get softer and pass more smoothly out.

Eat more fiber, you can start to eat porridge, for example, this helped me. What also helped me was eating more vegetables, especially broccoli and cabbage, which is really good to eat. Fruits also help, just remember to drink more water too when you increase your fiber intake, or else it can make it worse.

Sit good, this we talked about before too, try to use the squatting position or put a few books under your feet and this will relax and straighten your rear to help the poop out. This way is used by many in Asian countries still today.

Going for walks, exercising, walking, or running will help you prevent getting hemorrhoids too. Not only will you feel good after running but it may help you lose weight too, which also helps to prevent getting hemorrhoids.

Sitting too long, often today when we go to the bathroom we like to bring a magazine, our phone, or the tab with us there for enjoyment. This is very nice when having something to do while we sit in there but unfortunately this also will help us get hemorrhoids. Just the fact that sitting on the toilet too long itself will cause hemorrhoids to develop. So try to avoid these things when you go in there and try not to bring anything when you go for a poop.

What Are The Treatments For Hemorrhoids

If at-home treatments for hemorrhoids dont help you, you may need a medical procedure. There are several different procedures that your provider can do in the office. These procedures use different techniques to cause scar tissue to form in the hemorrhoids. This cuts off the blood supply, which usually shrinks the hemorrhoids. In severe cases, you may need surgery.

The first step, however, is talking to your primary care or family doctor about these symptoms. Most of the time, theyre signs of hemorrhoids, which a primary care doctor usually can treat successfully. If you have hemorrhoids, you likely dont need to see a specialist like me at first.

Of course, diet also plays a role in developing the symptoms of hemorrhoids. Not getting enough fiber in your diet can make the stool in your colon bulkier and drier, which increases the chances of becoming constipated. If youre not drinking enough water, your colon will pull more out of the food you eat, which leads to the same problem.

Controlling your hemorrhoids symptoms usually focuses on addressing the causes of constipation. Your doctor likely will recommend that you increase the amount of fiber in your diet. Vegetables and fruits, particularly fruits with peels, are a great way to increase the amount of fiber you eat. Foods with bran and oats, such as bran cereal or oatmeal, also pack on the fiber. If dietary changes arent enough, or for people who arent ready to change their diets, over-the-counter fiber supplements like Benefiber or Metamucil can help.

Youll also need to make sure youre getting enough fluid each day. Adults should drink 48 to 64 ounces of fluid per day. Among its many other benefits, getting enough fluid makes the stool softer and less painful to pass.

What To Do If Youre Straining To Poop

If you have chronic constipation thats not related to medications you take or medical conditions that youre aware of, then reviewing your fiber intake is a good place to start. People assigned female at birth between the ages of 19 and 30 should aim for at least 28 grams of fiber per day, according to the United States Department of Agricultures Dietary Guidelines.4 That number drops to 25 grams per day for people assigned female at birth who are between the ages of 31 to 50. Some good sources of fiber include fruits, vegetables, legumes, and whole grains, according to the Mayo Clinic.

As you increase your fiber intake, be sure to stay hydrated, Dr. Poppers says. Going all-in on fiber without sufficient hydration can lead to issues like bloating, gas, diarrhea, and the very constipation you might be trying to fix.

If youre straining to poop, Dr. Schnoll-Sussman recommends keeping a stool diary to better understand your bowel movements. This also comes in handy so you can talk to your doctor about your symptoms if you decide to seek treatment. She recommends tracking your answers to a few key questions each day if you can:

  • How often do I go to the bathroom?
  • What do my bowel movements look like?
  • How do I feel when I dont have a bowel movement?
  • What am I eating?
  • How much water am I drinking each day?
  • How much am I exercising?

Dont Delay The Bowel Movements

âIâve birthed an entire child in the time it takes my husband to poop ...

If you are working in a desk environment for hours on a daily basis, you are prone to prolonged sitting or straining. Straining and prolonged sitting can make the hemorrhoids worse and get more symptoms. By straining, you could make the pain and hemorrhoid poop stuck worse than before. During the flare-ups, it is recommended to continue your bowel movements.

Some people delay bowel movements because of their work or other activities. If this describes you, you must stop this bad behavior as soon as possible because it will only make constipation worse. There is a little trick to allow the easier passage of the stools. If sitting is not working, you could sit on the toilet and change the position until you get a good passage of stools.

Dont wait until it gets hard to go, dont take laxatives unless you have to. In fact, if you do use laxatives, make sure they are all-natural. You can get them at any health food store. I know this sounds gross, but there is nothing like a good dose of castor oil to clean out your system and relieve constipation.
